Frequently Asked Questions
How old must my
pet be at enrolment?
Your pet must be at
least 8 weeks old to enrol into one of the CherryBlue Pet
Insurance Programs.
Is there a maximum age for enrolment?
No. There is no upper age limit for enrolment of cats and
dogs, however cats (10+) and dogs (8+) may only enrol in the Red
Line Program or Blue Line Product with a $300 deductible.
What do I have to do to keep my pet's insurance in good
standing?
We request that you ask your veterinarian to forward your
pet's medical records to us for receipt within 30 days of
enrolment (failure to do so may result in cancellation). Ensure
that your pet has an annual physical and keep up to date with
the vaccinations recommended by your veterinarian.
What
veterinary costs are covered?
Veterinary fees covered include but are not limited to:
prescribed medication, x-rays, surgeries, hospitalization,
ultra-sounds, MRI/CAT scans, homeopathic treatments including
acupuncture and chiropractic, chemotherapy and referrals.
Are there any veterinary costs that will not be covered?
We do not
offer coverage for any costs associated with your pet's
routine/preventative care or general maintenance. Coverage is not provided
for pre-existing accidents and/or illnesses.
What is the deductible on these programs?
The
accident deductible is $100 payable for each accident
claimed. You may choose the level
of illness deductible that suits your finances. The illness deductible is
paid once per illness claimed, in each policy year.
I have
heard that some breeds of dog are more prone to hereditary
conditions. Will these illnesses be covered?
Yes. If you enrol your dog into the BLUE LINE program,
hereditary conditions will be covered unless the problem was
symptomatic or diagnosed prior to enrolment.
How do I submit
a claim?
You will receive a claim form with your document of
insurance. You may also download our claims form here or call us at 1-866-DOG-BLUE (364-2583).
Simply fill in the Owner portion of the form and ask your
veterinarian to fill in the Veterinarian portion of the claim
form. Send that form back to us with the associated proof of
payment and details of treatment.
